Regardless of which city it’s being held in, in one major way, ASTA reminds me of visiting New York City. In any day, there is just too much to see and do that it’s tough to decide where to go next. There is just so much fun and enriching experiences to be had!
Since I’m just one guy, I could only hit one event at a time and here are a few of highlights from the first full day of sessions and exhibits.

The deadline for the Edith Eisler String Scholarship Award, an annual $3,000 award for a single qualified string student with financial need, is drawing near.

Strings contributor and cellist Laurence Vittes is reporting from the 1st annual Piatigorsky International Cello Festival in Los Angeles.
The week-long festival is a collaboration between the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, the Colburn School of Music, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Chamber Music Orchestra.
The festival is being directed by USC instructor Ralph Kirschbaum.
